Jail records: Scarface arrested after receiving BET award
A good day for Scarface quickly turned into a not-so-good day, as the rapper was arrested following the BET Hip-Hop Awards on Friday (Oct. 9). Talk about a quick turnaround. But his celebration was short-lived, as police cuffed him shortly after his acceptance speech.
According to Billboard, Scarface is still in custody as of Sunday morning, and both his reps and the Fulton County’s Sheriff’s office have yet to comment. Bond has been set at $482,190 for the 44-year-old rapper.
The Houston-based Scarface gained fame in the late 1980s with the group Geto Boys through the song “Mind Playing Tricks on Me”. He has also served as president of record label Def Jam South, and is credited with helping launch the career of fellow southern rapper Chris “Ludacris” Bridges.
The rapper was arrested for failing to pay child support back in 2010 as well.
Finally, the person of the hour Scarface was in the constructing to simply accept the distinguished I Am Hip-Hop Award for his venerable profession in hip-hop.
