Man charged after girlfriend spotted clinging to hood of moving auto
The 31-year-old survived without serious injury to herself or her unborn child following the incident on Wednesday, the Houston Chronicle reported. Amateur footage shot by other motorists shows what happened next, as Alvarado clings tenaciously to the car’s hood even as it begins to move.
“It was extremely insane”, he said.
“She was holding onto the windshield wipers and he was dodging left and right trying to let her off”, Rodriguez said. Determined, Alvarado held on for nearly a mile – as the vehicle hit speeds of up to 30mph – before she fell from the vehicle, and Escobedo drove off.
Police say the incident started when 33-year-old Anthony Escobedo showed up to the motel where his ex-girlfriend, Jessica Alvarado, was staying. They said when she tracked him down at a Shell gas staion, she demanded he get out. She confronted him, but he refused to leave the vehicle.
In the cellphone video, Escobedo continued to step on the gas even with Alverado rolling onto the hood of the SUV.
Another witness did call 911 to report what was happening.
A pregnant Houston woman clung to the hood of her ex-boyfriend’s stolen vehicle as he drove along the freeway.
About an hour later, Police located Escobedo and he was arrested on misdemeanor charges of assault of a family member.
Paramedics took Alverado to the hospital, she has minor scrapes and bruises. She says Escobedo is the father of her baby.
He wasn’t able to catch up to Escobedo; but, police did find Escobedo and the SUV.
