Trump sent prank care package to Rubio
FILE image- In an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, Donald Trump (left)-who created one of the most memorable moments of the 2016 campaign so far by sharing rival Lindsey Graham’s cell phone number on national television-suggested he would shift his rhetoric as president.
Rubio, meanwhile, has impressed Republicans with his performances in the two debates and his relatively error-free campaign.
Trump is casting the senator as “Marco “amnesty” Rubio”, because of Rubio’s 2013 membership in the “Gang of Eight” in the Senate that favored an immigration bill that included a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.
There also was a note reading, “Since you’re always sweating, we thought you could use a few water. And [he’s a] young guy – although he sweats more than any young person I’ve ever seen in my life”, Trump said last month. Marco Rubio, saying Tuesday the Florida Republican is a “lightweight” with just $12 in the bank.
During the second GOP debate in September, held in drought-stricken California, Rubio poked fun at himself, telling Californians not to worry, because he brought his own water. He’s drinking water, water, water. Rubio inspired widespread derision for awkwardly gulping a water bottle on-air during the high-profile address. “I didn’t attack him – he attacked me”, Mr. Trump said. “This is water the way it was meant to be”. “He’s got $12 in the bank”, Mr. Trump said on CNN’s “New Day”. “He’s never there, meaning he doesn’t work or he’s too lazy to go back and vote”.
A Trump campaign aide said they added the towels were due to Rubio sweating, and called the gesture a lighthearted prank.
