Daniel Craig told to ‘shut up and stop bashing James Bond’
But Craig’s curmudgeonly comment hasn’t gone down well in Hollywood.
With “Casino Royale”, “Quantum Solace” and the successful “Skyfall”, TimeOut asked Craig if he wanted to make another film after Spectre, to which Craig answered with, “Now?” Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over at the moment.
‘I don’t know, it’s one of those things – he’s fun at a party but don’t stay too late’.
“I’m incredibly fortunate. But the day I can walk into a pub and someone goes, “Oh, there’s Daniel Craig” and then just leaves me alone, that’ll be great”, he said.
He said that he was contracted to make four movies and when pressed if he would consider doing more with the character that has made him a household name, he said: “I haven’t given it any thought”.
“I have no idea [if I’ll be back]”, he told Time Out London. “All I want to do is move on”, the publication quoted Craig as saying.
On Q and the gadgets and gimmicks associated with the character, Daniel says of the new film: “I can’t really reveal anything but needless to say we haven’t shied away from [them]…” You’ve got to push yourself as far as you can.
Craig was reportedly paid $10.7 million for Skyfall, making him the highest-paid Bond actor ever.
Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw and Rory Kinnear return for SCEPTRE, alongside newcomers to the franchise such as Christoph Waltz, Andrew Scott, Dave Bautista and Bond girls Lea Seydoux, Monica Bellucci and Stephanie Sigman.
Craig will join his co-stars – and royalty – for the world premiere of Spectre on October 26 at London’s Royal Albert Hall, on the day of the film’s release.
Neither Sony nor representatives for Craig responded to the New York Post story.
