Olive Garden apologizes to Kansas City police officer
While he was waiting on a bench, one of the employees asked him to leave, saying guns were not allowed in the restaurant.
Holsworth says he was there to celebrate his birthday with his family. Believing it was a joke, he asked the hostess if she was serious.
The restaurants refusal to serve Holsworth brought on a flurry of outrage spearheaded by the citys Fraternal Order of Police, which promised to organize protests outside the southeast Kansas City restaurant.
The president of Olive Garden has since contacted Officer Holsworth to personally apologize, according to KCTV5.
“It’s unacceptable, that’s what it is”. The spokesperson adds: “Olive Garden welcomes members of law enforcement all the time in the restaurants”. “We’re proud to say we have great relationships with our local police departments”. However, since they were running late, he made a decision to enter on his own and wait for them. Now mind you I am in full police uniform and on duty.
“Yes, please leave”, he was reportedly told. The officer tells KMBC that he has never been asked to leave a restaurant before and says he wrote about the situation on Facebook because he did not “want other officers to be subjected to the same embarrassing situation”.
Olive Garden has since apologized for the incident, claiming it was a misunderstanding.
“Now I never in my wildest thoughts would of (sic) thought this would happen in the Kansas City area”.
On Sunday, an on-duty Missouri cop was reportedly kicked out of an Olive Garden because he had his firearm with him. Olive Garden responded, “This was a misunderstanding”.
Lemon took a pointed stand against Holsworth’s treatment, demanding respect for all law enforcement officers.
The waitress said she wasn’t and ordered him out. Our brother received a similar call tonight, and was offered a very honest apology. Jeffers said it was not a member of management who told the officer to leave, but a hostess. “All we ever ask is to be treated fairly and with the same respect to due anyone else”. However, if a person or company, chooses to do otherwise we will not stay silent any longer.
