Ramsey: This Is A Great Moment For Welsh Football
Coleman says that if and when he does move on nothing will compare to leading Wales to France next summer.
What an achievement for Chris Coleman’s side, which also featured two former Swansea City players – Joe Allen and Ben Davies – as despite a 2-0 defeat in Bosnia, qualification was guaranteed on Saturday thanks to Cyprus beating Israel, while Belgium top the group following a win against Andorra.
“It means everything. We’ve all dreamed about this”, Coleman told Sky Sports. Once we get into that position you never keep achieving.
“They’ve looked at a few sites but that can all change of course, depending on the draw and depending on what other teams get through”.
“We need to make sure that this is the start for us and we build going forward and continue to qualify for major tournaments”.
His side’s unbeaten record in Group B had been ended by second-half goals from Milan Duric and Vedad Ibisevic.
The fate of the 1988 European champions will be decided on Tuesday when they host the already-qualified Czechs and Turkey, also vying for third place, welcome group leaders Iceland who have already sealed their spot. It really got to me.
‘We need to come out of our comfort zone.
“All I’m focused on is the European Championship and I’m trying to enjoy the moment because it is one we have never experienced”.
“But it is an absolute dream”.
“It’s the best loss of my life”, said Wales’ Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.
“I’ve wanted this not only as a player and a manager but a fan, as a child growing up”, he said. It doesn’t stop here.
And he says he expects things to change, adding that Bale will not be forced out of Spain in the coming years.
“We are like brothers on the pitch”.
“He’s definitely in our minds at all time when we play for Wales”, said the Swansea defender. “We can now test ourselves against the best”. If not, we would be interested [in playing them].
“I tried to continue where Speed left off and I should have done it my way, but Gary is such a presence and such a great man”.
He said: “This is right up there to be honest, if not above it. Everyone knows how important Wales is to me and how proud we are to all play for our country”.
“Because the game was how it was it’ll take a bit of time to sink in, but everyone is over the moon”.
“It is going to go down in history, but there is still a lot of work to do after this”.
“We want to make it 10 on Monday night”. But I just keep looking at the table.
Congratulations to Wales and Aaron Ramsey, who will join many of his Gunners teammates in France!
