Iggy Azalea has ‘nothing to do’ with Rita Ora’s ‘Lady Marmalade’
Rita reportedly told The Sun, “It’s always been my goal to create another ‘Lady Marmalade.’ I’m trying to round up the troops – I think it would be me, Miley [Cyrus], Charli XCX – she’d be fun – and Iggy [Azalea]”. It also proved to be a hit and fan favorite.
“Lady Marmalade” was first released by girl group Labelle in 1975 and was a massive hit.
“That was an iconic moment in pop history and should be left alone”, Azalea wrote in response to a fan who asked her about the song idea. It was then remade in 2001 by Missy Elliott, Lil’ Kim, Christina Aguilera, Mya and Pink to accompany the film Moulin Rouge, starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor.
Elsewhere on Iggy’s Twitter feed, she potentially started a beef with actual beef.
Soon after the announcement, Iggy revealed she was very much against the proposition, saying: “Please leave me out of the whole “Lady Marmalade” conversation”.
We could barely find one positive reaction to the proposed remake, with a few people claiming that the only acceptable cover would include Queen Bey, Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga and Rihanna.
Do you think it would be a good or bad idea for Rita to remake “Lady Marmalade” with the other girls?
