Hold your fire, 007 told
Bond insiders told Page Six Craig’s cranky outburst to Time Out London was brought on by the tough shoot for the latest 007 installment.
He said: “I was never seen as sexy by anyone until “Sherlock” came along and so I understand [being seen as a sex symbol] more as a reflection and appreciation of the work, rather than my own natural magnetism”. “It was a very hard shoot, to say the least”, explained sources from Spectre.
However, it’s not just “Spectre” bosses that are unimpressed with Craig’s attitude as “Grey’s Anatomy” actress Ellen Pompeo wrote on Twitter that, “this dude needs a reality check”, after hearing about his remark.
The actor claimed he wouldn’t be mates with his iconic character because he’s a cold-blooded killer. He’s made millions off of his stint in the franchise, not to mention lifetime world fame.
After the success of Skyfall, it was reported that Daniel Craig brokered a deal to be paid £31 million for the next two 007 films, including the soon-to-be-released Spectre, the 24th film in the franchise.
However, what is interesting is that in an interview with the Daily Mirror that was conducted earlier this month, Craig seemed happy to film another movie as James Bond.
A Hollywood insider told PageSix: “Craig is pretentious and thinks he’s better than Bond, that it doesn’t give him the creative range he needs. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money”. I’ll keep going as long as I’m physically able.
However, it would appear that things may be quite strained between the James Bond execs and Daniel Craig.
When asked by Esquire magazine if he had plans to reprise his role in the next film, he stated, ” At this moment, no. I have a life and I’ve got to get on with it a bit. Tom Hiddleston is always a favorite, but fans are concerned he might be too skinny. He also tells us where he thinks Christoph Waltz’s villain in “Spectre” ranks in the pantheon of Bond bad guys.
