2 dead, 5 wounded in two Jerusalem attacks
On his Facebook page Mohammad Halabi, 19, said he was prepared to die in the name of a new intifada before stabbing to death two Israelis in the Old City of Jerusalem and being shot dead himself.
Spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the Arab had fought with another officer before he was killed.
Palestinian Media Watch revealed that several PA officials had praised the murderous attacks on Jews.
The attacker, a 22-year-old resident from east Jerusalem, stabbed a man waiting there, police said. A new date has not been set.
He also addressed the tension that triggered this upsurge in violence. The leaders of Israel’s Arab community have called for a commercial strike in their towns and villages. There have also been multiple protests inside Israel from the country’s own Arab minority, with masked demonstrators clashing with police. Netanyahu, who just a few months ago warned his supporters that Arabs were voting in large numbers on election day, said he was committed to coexistence.
Netanyahu spoke as a new session of parliament was opened, saying Israel had overcome previous waves of bombings, a reference to earlier Palestinian uprisings or intifadas.
Palestinian social networks are abuzz with talk of the “intifada of the knives”, while Gaza’s Hamas leader Ismail Haniya has praised “the knife heroes”.
Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, has blamed the violence on incitement by groups including the Islamic Movement, which runs religious and educational services for Muslims in Israel.
Abbas needs the violence to show the Palestinian public that he is still part of the ‘resistance.’ He knows that his popularity will rise because of what a few now call the ‘suicide stabbing war’. They are brothers from eastern Jerusalem, according to Palestinian reports. Israeli police allege that boys stabbed and injured two Israelis, an adult and a 13 year old.
The attacks are the latest in a series of stabbing incidents primarily carried out by Palestinians against Israelis throughout the past week.
Close friends of the Palestinian’s family identified him as Mustafa al Khateeb, an 18-year-old from East Jerusalem who was in his past year of high school.
Elsewhere in Jerusalem, a 16-year-old girl pulled a knife and stabbed a policeman, who was reported to be in light-to-moderate condition.
Israeli authorities say two Israelis and one Palestinian have been killed, with at least seven others wounded, in a pair of separate attacks in Jerusalem this morning, in what has been labelled a “day of rage” by Palestinian groups.
“Indiscriminate or deliberate firing on observers and demonstrators who pose no imminent threat violates the worldwide standards to which the Israeli security forces are bound”, the watchdog’s Executive Director Kenneth Roth said.

A short time later, further north at Pisgat Zeev, two terrorists worked a street in tandem.
Following the incident, a 31-year-old Palestinian woman detonated gas cylinders in her auto at a checkpoint near Jerusalem, injuring herself and an Israeli security officer.
“This follows a spate of violence in which stabbing attacks targeting Israelis by Palestinians are taking place on an nearly daily basis”.
The woman was shot and wounded.
As night fell, an Israeli soldier was wounded on a bus in the city.
On Sunday, a Palestinian teenager was shot dead by Israeli forces during clashes at a checkpoint near Ramallah city.
A fourth confrontation Monday took place near one of the gates to Jerusalem’s Old City.
About 1,300 reserve border police officers have been mobilized here and throughout the country.
