Wales call winger Walker into squad
Wales failed to score during the seven minutes the Wallabies were down to 13 men and ended the match without a try and forwards coach Robin McBryde says the side can not afford to be so wasteful against the Springboks at Twickenham on Saturday.
Now, Walker is back in the fold after being drafted in to replace Liam Williams, who damaged his foot in the 15-6 loss to Australia on Saturday.
Kickoff in the crunch game is at 5pm.
The 23-year-old, who was himself a late call-up after Leigh Halfpenny was ruled out, suffered a hamstring injury last month but has now recovered.
“We are very sorry for Liam”.
“We have had incredible bad luck, there is no doubt about that”.
Having shown during the World Cup campaign they can play with an attacking flair or shoulder arms and defend for long periods, the biggest worry for the Wallabies ahead of the quarter-finals could be injuries.
“We would all like it to be much closer to the tournament from a competition point of view, but there are a few realities of taking Rugby World Cup to a new market and we have to be sensible”. “We have to be good enough to take those chances against South Africa from the first minute”.
“We should have won the game out in South Africa in the second Test past year, and we had a great win in the Millennium Stadium last autumn”, Biggar said.
“We are expecting a physical game, and they have been impressive after the opening weekend defeat against Japan”. I won’t lie, but that is the World Cup, isn’t it?
