Kansas City Officer Says He Thought Olive Garden Employee Was Kidding With
A uniformed police officer hoping to grab a celebratory birthday lunch with his family was kicked-out of an Olive Garden on Sunday for carrying his police-issued gun.
Holsworth was dressed in a full police uniform and was waiting for his family to arrive when an employee allegedly told him that it does not allow guns inside the restaurant.
The Kansas City Star reports that the incident took place in Independence, where the cop was at Olive Garden with his family celebrating his birthday.
Considering that Holsworth was on active duty and in full uniform, he thought the comment was a joke and asked, “Are you serious?”
Following the incident, the Olive Garden Twitter account has responded to multiple users concerned about the treatment of the officer saying that the company’s president has apologized to Holsworth personally.
About an hour after Lemon’s tweet a national spokesman with Olive Garden reached out and apologized for the incident.
“It’s unacceptable, that’s what it is”.
Earlier, a representative of the company told KCTV5 News that they are looking into what happened and that all members of law enforcement are welcomed at any of their locations. “We’re proud to say we have great relationships with our local police departments”.
“We aren’t turning officers away from our restaurants”, Jeffers said. However, since they were running late, he chose to enter on his own and wait for them. She replied back with ” Yes”.
Officer Michael Holsworth wrote about his experience on Facebook after he was asked to leave Olive Garden. She told him that she was just kidding around, but the officer wasn’t impressed.
“My experience today at Olive Garden was extremely unfortunate”.
Olive Garden has apologized for the incident. Our brother received a similar call tonight, and was offered a very honest apology. The employee supposedly said “yes”, and then asked him to “please leave”.
“Now I never in my wildest thoughts would of (sic) thought this would happen in the Kansas City area”.
What a hard time it has come to be for law enforcement officers in America. We deserve, and have earned, the same level of respect due to each and every member of society.
