Anthony Ogogo: Strictly win wasn’t meant to be
“Strictly Come Dancing” professional has revealed she is “very excited, happy and proud” to announce her engagement to businessman James Knibbs.
Staff at the hotel were in on the surprise – pretending that the couple’s room wasn’t ready when they checked in and encouraging them to take a walk to the Fisherman’s Lodge in the grounds instead.
Ainsley Harriott and Natalie Lowe did their Cha Cha to Boogie Wonderland from the movie Happy Feet and Anthony Ogogo and Oti Mabuse performed their Paso Doble to Eye of the Tiger from the film Rocky 3 in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition.
James was on his way back to Leeds, where he lived at the time – and only just made the train because it was delayed by 10 minutes.
The pair had to compete against TV chef Ainsley Harriott in the dance-off. I’m not a dancer, I’ve never danced before – but I was trying my absolute best, and week one I had a jive which is a really, really hard technique, a hard routine. “He is full of beans”, she said.
Not only are we sending Natalie Lowe huge congratulations for surviving the dreaded dance-off during week three of Strictly Come Dancing, but we’re also sending her all the love for another reason – SHE’S ENGAGED!
“I have to thank East Coast for being late. He is 58 – the oldest in the competition – but he’s giving the young’uns a run for their money”. ‘This morning I did a Pirate-themed naked dance for my birthday, ‘ he posted on his Instagram.
Once the judges gave their verdict, Anthony took the chance to thank Oti, telling presenter Tess Daly: “It’s been brilliant”.
Speaking of other celebrity dancers who were low on the leader board, he said that despite lacking “technical brilliance”, the others “were getting a “well done, it was good, you brought the energy”. I feel sorry for her because she got lumbered with me.
