Tracy Morgan returns to standup with New York show
Tracy Morgan’s road to recovery continued on Monday night.
“My first time on stage in 16 Months at the #Comedy Cellar!” Morgan tweeted. “Picking up the pieces!”
Fellow comedian Judah Friedlander, who appeared on NBC’s “30 Rock” with Morgan, was listed on the Comedy Cellar’s official bill, but he didn’t know about Morgan’s surprise appearance, according to Refinery 29.
And, it seems, the Morgan was a tough act to follow.
Tracy Morgan has made a triumphant return to the stage following the vehicle crash which put him in a coma a year ago (14).
Not content with just one show, Tracy also took to the stage at The Stand on Monday.
It was only last week he was back in front of the camera for the first time after his accident – filming scenes for his new movie Fist Fight.
MIKE BLAKE/REUTERS Actor Tracy Morgan and his wife, Megan Wollover, pose backstage during the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, California September 20, 2015.
The comedian was left with brain trauma and a broken leg and ribs following the incident in June 2014, which happened after a show.
“I’m here, standing on my own two feet”, he said from the Emmy stage after receiving a standing ovation. Three other passengers in the limo suffered serious injuries.
His Emmys’ speech was filled with both heartfelt emotion, gratitude, and of course, a few off-color jokes, admitting he had finally started to feel like himself, “which means a whole lot of women are going to get pregnant at the after party”.
Meanwhile, Walmart has settled a $10 million lawsuit with McNair’s children and has reached a confidential settlement with Morgan.
