Was Daniel Craig told to stop shaming ‘Bond’ films?
“All I want to do is move on”, the publication quoted Craig as saying.
Craig, when questioned about his future with the Bond franchise a few days back, said, “Now?”
Craig, who has reunited with director Sam Mendes for his fourth outing as Bond, said he is “kind of on the same page” with the filmmaker, and also discussed his co-star Naomie Harris, who will return as Eve Moneypenny following her debut in Skyfall. “I made this joke that he used to come to set with his two Oscars and slap them down on the table and say ‘right let’s begin!’ He’s an wonderful actor, he’s got this darkness about him and it’s such a attractive nuance performance”. “I’m contracted for one more – but I’m not going to make predictions”.
The New York Post’s PageSix revealed yesterday that Craig’s recent bashing of the film franchise was due to problems on set.
When asked by Esquire magazine if he had plans to reprise his role in the next film, he stated, ” At this moment, no. I have a life and I’ve got to get on with it a bit. He’s an extraordinary man whose appeal lies in being so very different and hard and someone whom people find strikingly attractive and compelling. “I don’t know, it’s one of those things – he’s fun at a party but don’t stay too late”.
There has also been speculation about whether or not there will ever be a black James Bond. At the moment, we’ve done it. I’m not in discussion with anybody about anything. But Craig’s curmudgeonly comment hasn’t gone down well in Hollywood.
However, what is interesting is that in an interview with the Daily Mirror that was conducted earlier this month, Craig seemed happy to film another movie as James Bond.
‘Spectre’ opens in United Kingdom cinemas on Monday October 26.
