Officers arrest man connected with Memphis officer murder
Lorenzo Clark is being held in connection with the deadly shooting of Memphis Police Officer Terence Olridge on Sunday. He then crawled to his home and banged on his garage door to get help, but later died after being rushed to a hospital. The men are neighbors in Cordova, a major retail center just east of Memphis.
According to court records obtained by Breitbart Texas, other prior charges against Clark include: possession of marijuana with intent to manufacture or sell; driving on a suspended license; violation of probation; contempt of court; criminal trespass; and, disorderly conduct. WMC reports that Olridge’s fiancee is four months pregnant with the couple’s first child. Memphis Police spokesman Louis Brownlee said the investigation is ongoing additional charges are expected. Relatives of the officer could be seen crying outside the hospital.
Fox news reported Monday that Lorenzo Clark, 36, was charged with felony possession of a firearm in connection with Olridge’s death.
The gunfire broke out at 12:50 p.m. Later, Clark surrendered to officers without incident at his home in the 2700 block of Long Shadow Lane in Memphis. “I didn’t think we would be here so soon”.
Olridge is one of four Memphis officers have been shot to death in just over four years and the second fatally shot in the past 2.5 months.
Neighbors said they heard at least 15 gunshots, WMC reported. I can’t say what he called him.
Police on Sunday blocked the street in front of the house where the shooting happened.
In August, Officer Sean Bolton was fatally injured in the line of duty. In that crime, Tremaine Wilbourn, has been accused of first-degree murder.
Officer Tim Warren was killed while responding to a shooting at a downtown Memphis hotel in July 2011.
“It’s sad, sad it keeps on happening in Memphis”, Kelly told FOX13.
