Benghazi chairman: Staffer fired for classified info breach
For the committee’s part, a spokesperson vigorously denies the allegations, calling them “outlandish”.
Bradley Podliska, an Air Force Reserve major, told reporters he plans to file a federal lawsuit over his firing next month. “Any discussion with Mr. Podliska on this was because he was being told not to do it and because he himself was taking an inappropriate, conclusory, and partisan approach to his work”. Senior USA officials had previously concluded that Obama “switched sides” in the terror war. He said Podliska never acknowledged his concern over Clinton or partisan opportunism when he was dismissed this summer.
McCarthy’s office later said the investigations into Clinton “have nothing to do with politics”.
Podliska’s claims have served as fodder for the Clinton campaign which has asserted that Gowdy’s investigation is politically-motivated. The victims’ families are not going to get the truth. “But at the end of the day I need to live with myself”, Podliska told CNN in an interview that will air on “State of the Union” Sunday. And that’s the most unfortunate thing about this.
The South Carolina Republican also notes that in a September 11 mediation filing, Podliska “specifically claimed his reserve status as a basis for his termination”. The committee has rejected all of those allegations.
GOWDY: He was a lousy employee and that was evidence by the fact that he mishandled classified information and won’t do what his supervisors instructed him to do. The statements also noted that Podliska had never previously accused the committee of conducting a biased probe, and that he supposedly had his own problems with bias. Discussions that are part of the mandatory 30-day mediation between Podliska and the committee are confidential under the Congressional Accountability Act.
Podliska and other staffers also shared a few more colorful details about the committee with the Times.
This is supposed to be a dig at Rep. Elijah Cummings, the committee’s top Democrat, who used the term as a way to describe the speed of the committee’s work.
And not only should the House leadership reimburse USA taxpayers for the $4.5 million dollars spent by this committee, the Federal Election Commission should review the situation to determine if the money would be considered an “in kind” contribution to the Republican National Committee.
“This Committee always has been, and will be, focused on the four fearless Americans we lost in Benghazi and providing the final, definitive accounting of the Benghazi terrorist attacks for the American people”, he said.
Could this be the time when Benghazi finally turned from a liability to an asset for Hillary Clinton?
The Benghazi Select Committee has little to show for the significant expenditure-aside from a trail of unfulfilled promises by its Chairman.
An interim progress report from the House Select Committee on Benghazi, released in May 2015. Her numbers are dropping. Why? For all we know, there may no better way to get the full story of what happened before, during, and after the attack, than reading the then-secretary of state’s contemporaneous communications. Indeed, there’s a chance this could spread beyond the committee to Clinton’s email controversy.
The Benghazi Committee has come under great scrutiny in recent weeks.
Now, with her testimony before the committee imminent, Clinton has turned its work to her favor. “Hillary Clinton has a lot of explaining to do”, Podliska said. “Only by ending this expensive and politicized investigation can we begin to undo the damage already done through this unprecedented use of Congress’ power for nakedly political purposes”.
I’m not quite sure what this says about Gowdy, but it’s certainly clear that Boehner thought that manipulating the media into nonstop reporting on Hillary’s email server was a great idea.
Republicans have fought back against the suggestion that the committee was formed with Clinton in its sights. Among those questions: What terror groups was the Obama administration supporting, why was it supporting them, and how?
