Toshiba introduces a Windows 10-powered dynaPad tablet, comes with an ultra
The key feature of the touchscreen is not its anti- fingerprint characteristic though. Geeky historians may remember that Toshiba actually launched a similarly named device way back in the early 1990s – the Dynapad T100X was a “pen computer” for “all those who thought that a computer was only for people who know how to type”. Toshiba claims that the hardware replicates the feeling of writing on paper with a real pen – which is likely a bit of a stretch, but Wacom’s stylus is certainly one of the best there is.
It’s also worth looking a little more closely at the name Toshiba has chosen for its new device.
Toshiba dynaPad features a 12-inch diagonal WUXGA+ (1920 x 1280) IPS display that delivers sharp detail and wide viewing angles for photos, videos and documents. The tablet-laptop hybrid is both thinner and lighter than Microsoft’s new Surface Pro 4, but not quite as powerful.
The tablet is powered by an Intel Atom processor paired with 4GB of RAM so it can offer decent performance, not as good as the Surface Pro 4, but should be good enough for regular users.
Add the keyboard and thickness is increased to 14.9mm, while the weight rises to 996 grams. “Combining an ultra-thin, pen-capable tablet with Toshiba’s suite of productivity applications plus the versatility of Windows 10, we are closer to achieving the vision: truly personal computers that act as a complete medium for learning and expression”.
It would be interesting to see this head as soon as possible to the other region, although, that train would arrive next year as the device is going to take time to go on sale in the homeland.
But you can pre-order it in Japan starting today, which is should keep them enthusiasts momentum.
There’s no firm word on pricing yet, but Verge reckons it should cost in the region of $1,000 before tax. I’d say, it just might be the right candidate to give heated competition to others.
