University of Florida quarterback reportedly suspended after positive test for
Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel watches the final minutes of his… Arkansas has already lost four games and they have a few tough games left. “It gives us motivation to keep playing good ball”.
Missouri’s lacked balance and often seemed flustered and confused on offense, but the defense played well after a poor start. Neither team scored an offensive point in the second half, punting a combined 12 times in the and turning the ball over twice on downs.
“I thought we started a little bit rough in terms of our rhythm, but I think we regained that”, coach Becky Burleigh said. We’ll go to work. We’re going to go in and compete.
In that game, Florida’s flu-ridden quarterback, Will Grier, had nearly as many touchdown passes (four) as he did incompletions (five); Grier’s passer rating (206.8) was the second-highest by any Florida quarterback against an FBS opponent in the modern era. The Tigers are atop the SEC and third nationally in rush offense with 346.4 yards a game, and Fournette leads the nation in rushing yards (1,022), rushing yards per game (204.4) and in touchdowns (12).
The Wolverines allowed 24 points in their opener at still-undefeated Utah, but have given up just 14 points since, including a 38-0 dismantling of Northwestern on Saturday. The Missouri offense stalled, however, and after Lock almost gifted Florida an interception, kicker Andrew Baggett converted from 21 yards out to pull the Tigers within 7-3.
Looking ahead: Missouri hits the road for two straight conference games, including a tussle between the hedges next Saturday at Georgia against a Bulldogs team that will be without stud tailback Nick Chubb. Late in the third quarter, on the first play of a Tigers drive, Lock began evading Gators as soon as he received the snap. Each drive was capped by 1-yard touchdown runs by Taylor. “At the same time, it’ll be really interesting to see how we handle the praise from all the people that said they weren’t worth a hill of beans”.
“It’s amusing because I was recruited here as a forward, so sometimes I feel like it’s unfair for me to be back there”, Falknor said. When he threw another interception in the third quarter – this one returned for a touchdown – he did the same. If they play up to their full potential, they should come away with a fairly easy win this evening. The run game, though, is where the struggles really take place as the Tigers average a measly 116 yards per game on the ground.
It’s just a standard outside zone run to the side of the TE but it comes from a formation that doesn’t normally force the defense to worry about that concept. It’s hard on young quarterbacks, man, when you’re giving a bunch of different looks. Quarterback Drew Lock threw for 136 yards and two touchdowns in 21 of 28 passes. So they were content to play it safe and punt. Florida, meanwhile, was held without a first down until its fifth drive of the half.
An inexperienced offensive line has certainly not helped matters, as the most experienced Gators lineman coming into the season was senior Mason Halter, who had played in 33 career games…with FCS Fordham!
