Trio charged with killing Quebecer, hiker, in California
Sean Michael Angold, 24, Morrison Haze Lampley, 23, and Lila Scott Allgood, 18, are charged with murder under special circumstances, which could carry the death penalty or life in prison.
Three transients accused of using a stolen gun to rob and kill a Canadian backpacker and a yoga instructor two days apart were sent back Monday to Northern California from Oregon, where they were arrested. The three suspects arrived from Portland, Ore and were taken inside the jail Monday.
An arraignment hearing for 24-year-old Sean Michael Angold, 23-year-old Morrison Haze Lampley and 18-year-old Lila Scott Alligood has been set for Wednesday, authorities said.
Backpacker Audrey Carey, 23, from Quebec, was found dead in Golden Gate Park in early October.
The defendants also are charged with special circumstance allegations of multiple murders, lying in wait and murder while committing a robbery, Berberian said.
A handgun stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked near San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf neighborhood was the weapon allegedly used in both murders, police said. It’s unclear if they have attorneys who could speak on their behalf. The three was seen on surveillence video fueling up Carter’s auto after his murder.
Marin County sheriff’s lieutenant Doug Pittman said they had no fixed abode and seemed to be “living off the radar”.
“We will be monitoring the prosecution and will be cooperating with the Marin County DA’s office to bring justice to these victims’ families”, San Francisco district attorney spokesman Alex Bastian said.
Carter had driven to the hiking trail with his dog on the evening of October. 5. Carter’s dog, a Doberman Pinscher, had also been shot and was still leashed to him, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office. He lived nearby with friends while caring for his cancer-stricken wife.
