UConn ‘Mac and Cheese’ student apologizes: I am ashamed
Luke Gatti posted a 9-minute, obscenity-laced video on YouTube after food-service workers refused to serve him October. 4.
Luke Gatti acknowledged in a 2½-minute video posted online that he was drunk and said he was ashamed of his behavior.
A few UConn students also have started an online fundraiser to show their support for the abused food service workers.
Gatti previously was a student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and was arrested twice a year ago on disorderly conduct charges.
In the video, Luke Gatti begins by apologizing to those he mistreated.
Now Gatti has a sobering video on YouTube where he says, he’s sorry. Gatti dared the manager to call police … who are seen arriving about eight minutes into the video.
“No one deserves to be treated that way”, he said.
Gatti admitted in his apology that he was “very intoxicated”, which was the reason he couldn’t get his food, after the teen brought an open bottle of booze into the cafeteria.
When he watched the video of himself days after the incident, Gatti said he couldn’t believe it was him acting that way. He added, “I’m thinking what the hell is wrong with me”. This is not what I’m all about.
Gatti said his son did something terribly wrong that that is is truly remorseful.
“Yes we have filed for a continuance”, Vincent Gatti said, adding that his son and his family are “fearful of how terribly out of control this has gotten”. “I talk and talk, I don’t know when to shut up”. They said they charged him with second-degree breach of peace and first-degree criminal trespass.
‘Generally speaking, any UConn student found to have violated the provisions of the Student Code may face penalties imposed by the Division of Student Affairs that range from probation to expulsion, ‘ Stephanie Reitz, a spokesman for the University of Connecticut, told DailyMail.com. “There’s a lot of hungry people out there”, he said.
