Ohio gas prices up over several weeks; national average dips

Gas prices in Illinois fluctuated a little from last week, but nothing exceeded a dime since then.

The Dearborn-based auto club says that the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was about $2.46 per gallon on Sunday.

The price in Maine was $1.04 less per gallon than a year ago, and 11.1 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. It will be a temporary rebound, with oil and gasoline prices moving lower again in the months ahead, allowing for relief at the pump again in the months ahead, and we’re sticking to our previous guidance: “$1.98 per gallon nationally by Christmas”.

Ah, just when you were getting used to gas prices falling, suddenly the arrow is pointing the other way. “The jump was led by states in the Midwest”.

Gas prices in Florida now average $2.22 a gallon, compared with $2.15 a week ago and $3.25 a year ago, according to AAA data.

Fort Wayne-area gas prices went up 7.6 cents a gallon last week, GasBuddy.com said today.

Motorists are seeing slightly higher prices at the pumps in New Jersey.

With Halloween approaching and a few parts of the country already enjoying gas prices below $2 per gallon, most of the country seems to be stuck with prices that are about 50¢ higher than that. Driving is expected to remain relatively strong because of low gas prices.
