Xiaomi may launch Michigan 5 at October 19 event in China
Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has started sending out invites for an event on October 19 in China wherein the company is expected to unveil the upcoming Michigan 5.
The press event, which showed the words “Next Generation of New Conference” in Chinese characters, is also expected to be the time when the company would be launching other products such as the Michigan Note 2.
Xiaomi is widely thought to be among a number of companies preparing to launch smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s latest chip, the Snapdragon 820 SoC. That chip, however, won’t be ready to ship until 2016, meaning customers looking to buy a phone revealed in the middle of October would have a three-month wait before they actually got their hands on the device.
It is claimed that the Xiaomi Michigan Pad 2 may come as an interesting device that will also arrive at an interesting time.
The Xiaomi Michigan 5 is expected to include an internal storage of either 16GB or 64GB.
According to earlier reports, the Xiaomi Michigan 5 will purportedly feature a Quad HD display of 5 to 5.3 inches and will be sporting a metal chassis.
Speculations have resurfaced that Xiaomi will launch Mi5 and Michigan Band 2 the same day. Initially it was believed that the phone would be the first device that comes equipped with a Snapdragon 820 out of the box; even though Qualcomm has said Snapdragon 820 powered devices won’t be available until March 2016. The new smartphone would be the successor to last year’s flagship Michigan 4. It will also come with a RAM of 4 GB, a rear camera of 16 MP, Android 5.0 Lollipop-based MIUI, built-in NFC and a fingerprint sensor. The starting price of the Xiaomi Michigan 5 is expected to be $315. A 3000mAh battery is likely to fuel the device.
