Sierra Nevada College Student Last Seen in Goleta
The Santa Barbara County Sherriff’s Department is investigating Thacher’s disappearance.
According to the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office, Dianne Thacher, originally from Wakefield, was reported missing on Sunday.
Authorities are trying to locate a Nevada college student who was reported missing after a visit to California. Days later, her family back home in Rhode Island, which is accustomed to hearing from her daily or seeing her new messages posted on Facebook, called police after realizing her phone had been turned off.
Dianne Thacher, a 23-year-old Sierra Nevada College student, was last seen checking into her motel on the 6000 block of Hollister Ave.in Goleta last Tuesday.
Her cellphone has not been active since October. 6.
Deputies in California with the assistance of Nevada authorities have been conducting an investigation into her disappearance, including aerial searches of the area where her vehicle and cell phone were found, and a ground search of the area.
