Fired GOP staffer: Benghazi probe politicized
But the current House investigation is politics at its worst.
Bradley Podliska, an Air Force Reserve major, told reporters he plans to file a federal lawsuit over his firing next month. After all, before this committee was created in May 2014, there already had been eight congressional investigations into the September 11, 2012 attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya, most headed by Republicans.
Tapper understandably bristles at the suggestion that his reporting on Podliska’s accusations is a gift to Clinton’s campaign. Senior USA officials had previously concluded that Obama “switched sides” in the terror war.
Podliska, a self-described conservative Republican, alleges that he lost his job in part because he refused to focus his investigative efforts on Clinton and the State Department. And that’s the most unfortunate thing about this. He contended that another reason he was sacked was for taking leave because of a deployment; such a dismissal would be illegal.
“Nor did he mention Secretary Clinton at any time during his counseling for deficient performance, when he was terminated, or via his first lawyer who withdrew from representing him“, the statement reads. “Moreover, once legally permitted to do so, the committee stands ready to prove his termination was legal, justified and warranted – on multiple levels”, said a statement from the committee quoted in later media reports.
NANCY CORDES: Podliska’s claims are another blow to the House Benghazi investigation, but Republicans say he’s lying.
In a statement Sunday, chairman Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-South Carolina, denied all of Podliska’s allegations on behalf of the committee. “The Committee will not be blackmailed into a monetary settlement for a false allegation made by a properly terminated former employee”.
The committee, however, strongly disputed Podliska’s claims.
Unfortunately for Clinton’s campaign, the FBI is also conducting an investigation. But despite these criticisms of the committee’s investigation, Podliska said Clinton still “has a lot of explaining to do” about the State Department’s response to the attack.
In between, Podliska offered a more nuanced perspective on Clinton’s responsibility for what occurred in Benghazi, but those cautionary notes are likely to be quickly forgotten. “These are extremely serious whistleblower charges by one of Chairman Gowdy’s own handpicked investigators”.
And not only should the House leadership reimburse US taxpayers for the $4.5 million dollars spent by this committee, the Federal Election Commission should review the situation to determine if the money would be considered an “in kind” contribution to the Republican National Committee. In the future, when asked about what the select committee accomplished, Republicans will probably say, “They discovered Clinton’s emails!”
Missouri A previous private detective when it comes to the Republican-led You can introduce.S. House group on Benghazi overvallen who exactly falsely accused it of concentrating on Hillary Clinton is that never stipulated anguish about Clinton’s treatment procedure in meetings prior to his shooting, the panel’s head said on Sunday.
McCarthy subsequently withdrew his candidacy for House speaker, citing in part the uproar over those comments.
Mrs Clinton, the top USA diplomat at the time of the Benghazi attack in 2012, is due to testify before the committee for the first time on October 22. The GOP majority leader, who at the time was a candidate to succeed John A. Boehner (Ohio) as speaker, suggested in a Fox News interview that the committee had succeeded because Clintons poll numbers had plummeted.
