Small airplane lands on Idaho interstate during rush hour
A single-engine aircraft landed on Interstate 84 in Boise, Idaho, right at the start of rush hour traffic Tuesday morning.
The pilot was headed toward Boise Airport when a problem with the fuel tanks caused the engine to stop working, reports the BBC. Boise Police said none of the occupants of the small plane were injured.
Nobody was hurt in the incident.
“Seven-three-mike, I’m on the freeway”, the pilot says.
Early findings in an investigation under way by state police and the Federal Aviation Administration suggest Brinkerhoff neglected to tap a second fuel tank after the first one emptied, Massolio said.
Idaho State Police said no injuries have been reported.
Traffic is slowing and backing up in the area. SP Aircraft is a charter business that also offers flights into the Idaho backcountry and can move freight by air. If the plane was already low, the pilot wouldn’t have had time to lower the gear, Guerricabeitia said.
The number on the craft identifies it as a single-engine Cessna T210K. Patrick declined to name the pilot or say what kind of freight was on board. The craft’s propelled appear bent from striking the pavement, the agency said.
Jon Brinkerhoff, 30, of Westminster, landed on Interstate 84 at 7:02 a.m.
