Paul Reubens will play the Penguin’s dad (again) – this time on Gotham
When breaking the big news to the audience at NYCC, Taylor shouted “Pee-Wee Herman is playing my Dad!”
“So we’re all familiar with Oswald’s mother, the fabulous, fabulous Carol Kane”, said Lord Taylor, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Gotham fans, get ready to meet someone possibly even more deranged than Oswald Cobblepot: his father. “We don’t know a lot about his father”.
Paul Reubens of Pee-wee Herman fame will reprise his role as The Penguin’s father, Tucker Cobblepot, in this season of Gotham. He’s playing my dad!
Reubens is not the only new face that Gotham have cast.
Seems like a chill dude. That Penguin was of course played by the iconic Danny Devito.
The 37-year-old actor was joined by his co-stars Robin Lord Taylor, Cory Michael Smith, Erin Richards, Michael Chiklis, James Frain, and Jessica Lucas at the event.
I only watched a handful of the first season episodes of Gotham before calling it quits, but I’ve heard solid things about its sophomore season, so maybe I’ll give the series a second chance. Barnes comes in as a countermeasure to the villainy that is running amok in Gotham. The casting of Paul Reubens seems like the icing on a surprisingly decent cake.
His father never wanted him around, hence the abandonment at a young age, but his planned introduction to the programme suggests the two will still have a few kind of contact within this universe.
Reubens’ confirmation that he will be appearing on Gotham in this capacity has ruled out speculation that Marilyn Manson could take the role.
