Donald Trump to host ‘Saturday Night Live’
Now Trump does her one better by hosting a show that has routinely used him as a punchline.
The network dropped his annual Miss United States of America and Miss Universe pageants, which were a joint venture between NBC and Trump (Reelz aired Miss US instead, and Trump later bought back NBC’s share), and replaced Trump as host of Celebrity Apprentice with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Trump’s monologue is full of brags about himself, his money, his television show and his love life.
No word yet on whether SNL announcer and former cast member Darrell Hammond will bring out his pitch-perfect Trump impersonation.
The new season of “SNL” started two weekends ago.
Trump had been expected to pop up the same way – possibly as a surprise guest sometime this fall – but not necessarily as a host. And political figures are often a fixture on SNL during election season, with Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin and John McCain among those who have appeared on the show in the past.
He answered cryptically: “I’m not allowed to say that”. Trump tweeted approvingly about the impression on October 3.
