Harbhajan named as backup for Ashwin in India ODI side
Ashwin strained himself while bowling his fifth over during the first One day global against South Africa at the Green Park stadium. The 29-year-old was only able to bowl four of his allocated 10 overs before being forced to leave the field partway through South Africa’s innings.
Ashwin, who is having a dream run off late was going strong today as well but suffered a left side strain as he tried to put across a dive.
Since making his comeback to the Indian ODI aspect in the series against Zimbabwe in July this yr, Singh has exclusively taken 4 wickets from three video games.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed the injury to Ashwin in a media release and stated that the off-spinner will be assessed by the medical team.
Ashwin was later seen outside the boundary rope practicing his bowling action with the Indian medical staff but soon returned to the dressing room to get a few treatment. “I was disappointed with the fast bowlers in the slog overs as there was plenty of reverse swing”, India skipper MS Dhoni said after his team’s defeat. “Harbhajan Singh has been included in the squad and will join the team before the second match in Indore on Wednesday.” the BCCI said in a statement.
