Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly wary of USC with interim coach
Jack Salmond was born with four profound heart defects that led to three open-heart surgeries.
He later developed protein-losing enteropathy, an abnormal loss of protein in the digestive tract, as a result of those surgeries.
“He’s watched on his iPad; he watches pep rallies; he watches team meetings; he watches everything”, his mother said. “So he has a lot of digestive problems”.
“I want to thank Clay Helton for stepping into the interim head coach role, and I want to add how proud I am of our coaching staff and players and the way they are responding to this hard situation”, Haden said. She left school after her junior year for the WNBA and was named rookie of the year with Seattle.
Jack, for his part, is looking forward to the procedure. “I’ve always wanted to come here (to South Bend) and be on the field”.
“Through all of this we remain concerned for Steve and hope that it will give him the opportunity to focus on his personal well being”.
“Transplant is not a cure-all”, she said.
A Utah teen with a life-threatening heart condition had his Fighting Irish dream come true over the weekend.
Coach Muffet McGraw said the biggest question facing Notre Dame is who will replace Loyd as the player to take clutch shots.
Thursday, Jack went behind-the-scenes, getting an all-access pass to the Joyce Center and Notre Dame Stadium.
Betiku said the visit could happen November. 14 for the Wake Forest game or after the season.
He had never been to a Notre Dame game before.
“An experience with the Notre Dame football team is one of our most popular local sports-themed wishes, partially because of the bravery and fighting spirit kids are able to share with the players”, Kelly said. Former National Football League athlete and Notre Dame alum Reggie Brooks was his tour guide.
“One of our themes has been to be poor again, to be hungry”, Brey said at media day Tuesday.
“It was really cool to have him here”. He got to go Saturday’s game against Navy.
“It’s been really wonderful”. He said representing his city in a new place is something that’s very important to him. He said he doesn’t yet know who the sixth and seventh players are.
“Team practice is a lot of fun”, said Jack. “I don’t know if it’s going to get any better”.
Unfortunately, even a few field goals takes a lot out of the 17-year-old. “But he’s just a trooper, he just adjusts for whatever”.
Helton also said that receiver Steven Mitchell, who suffered an ankle injury against the Huskies, “does not look great” for Saturday’s game.
