Google unveils new Nexus phones, Chromecast, Pixel tablet
Google also revealed the new Google Nexus 6P and 5X smartphones as well at the show.
As for the hardware, the plastic encased Nexus 5X, which has a 5.2-inch display, has a Snapdragon 808 chipset, 2 GB of RAM and a 12.3 megapixel camera at its rear. However, the Google Nexus 5X comes with midrange specs and lacks couple of important features.
The Play Store page doesn’t say when the devices will be made available in India.
The release of new Nexus devices has become an annual tradition for Google, which uses them to demonstrate the latest advancements in their Android mobile operating system.
The new Android Marshmallow will also include a new app drawer, a built-in fingerprint scanner support, and a number of tweaks to the smartphone’s system that handles storage and memory.
– The Nexus 6P on the other hands takes a step back from last year’s Nexus 6 and comes with a slightly smaller 5.7-inch QuadHD AMOLED panel with a 1440×2560 pixels resolution and 518ppi pixel density.
The Nexus 6P, built in collaboration with Huawei, is the first Nexus phone with an all-metal body.
“Now on Tap” Android feature will be activated by long-pressing the device’s home button. It is paired up with 3GB of RAM, and consumers can choose from 32-, 64-, and 128GB internal storage.
In the USA, the Nexus 5X is priced at Dollars 379 (about Rs 24,900 for 16GB model) and the Nexus 6P at USD 499 (about Rs 32,800 for 32GB model). The LG Nexus 5X has a 5.2 inch screen and has Gorilla Glass 3.
As for other key additions, Android 6.0 Marshmallow allows for a wider range of voice interactions and simpler voice-activated assistance, better battery life optimization, support for the USB Type C standard, and a lot more.
In the event, Google also confirmed that the new platform will be updated for its Nexus devices, even the older ones. The Japanese Google Store has listed only the Gold Color variant on their site, but the Price and availability of the same are not yet announced.
