Facebook will stop reminding you about your ex and other unwelcome memories
Facebook is a nostalgia machine, with features like “Year in Review” and “On This Day” summoning photos and posts from the past in an attempt to entertain users.
To prevent a few memories from popping up on the Timehop-like feature, go to “Preferences” and choose a person, a specific date, or a date range that should not show up on ‘On This Day’.
In response to criticism of its “On This Day” feature bringing up photos from the past that many users would rather not see, Facebook is introducing filters to allow users to remove specific individuals and dates from the feature, according to the Verge. Indeed, for every great memory that pops up in the timeline there could be one that’s not so nice.
Facebook is rolling out a couple of new filtering options for its “On This Day” feature, which pulls up past things that happened on your Facebook in that day at a few point in the past.
Facebook has tools/features that let you relive past moments, but not all moments are something you want to see crop up in your newsfeed.
If you are a person who prefers to live in the present and not look back, you can also turn off “On This Day” notifications so you never have to be relive these moments.
You can see your On This Day page in several ways: by searching for “On This Day”, clicking on the On This Day bookmark, or going to facebook.com/onthisday.
Facebook users can now use the “On This Day” page to edit their memories.
