Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD coming to Wii U?
The former possibility was strengthened by the subsequent reveal of the title “Twilight Princess HD” on the Nintendo eShop servers.
Firstly, a shop icon for Twilight Princess was uncovered in the depths of the Wii U eShop, sparking rumours over a potential HD remake or release on Nintendo’s Virtual Console. The game, which originally released on the Gamecube and Wii in 2006, is considered to be a modern classic, and one of the greatest games ever made, blending together open world design with a few of the best level design in history. Its darker tone was initially praised by fans following the divisively colourful Wind Waker, although upon launch Twilight Princess failed to find the same level of fan love.
While the listing is definitively for a Wii U game, there’s no way to be sure whether it’s simply a test, placeholder, or a sign of something to come.
Unfortunately, that happened because the game ditched the striking cel shaded look that marked its predecessor, The Wind Waker, and went with a more realistic look instead.
Another Zelda port would also fill the gap left now that the next Zelda game has been delayed.
Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water releases for the Nintendo Wii U on October 22nd, 2015 in North America, and October 30th in Europe.
We’ve dropped Nintendo a line in case there’s any official response.
