NCAA: LSU RB Fournette can auction jersey for flood victims

The LSU band played South Carolina’s alma mater before and after the game.

On Saturday, the Tigers will play against a reserve quarterback for the fourth straight week.

The Tigers beat the Gamecocks Saturday 45-24 as Fournette cracked 1,000 yards on the year. Freshman Derrius Guice had 161 yards and a TD. The injury sidelined Moore for the remainder of the game.

Fournette approved of the rookie’s performance.

And for the second straight week, LSU coach Les Miles replaced him with sophomore Cameron Gamble. Miles called the special teams sloppy and said the Tigers have “work to do there”. Angry might be a better word. In addition, Travin Dural caught four passes for 109 yards. In the third quarter, Brandon Harris dropped back and targeted tight end DeSean Smith toward the right sideline. Harris was 18 of 28 passing for 228 yards and two touchdowns.

“Harris is a mobile quarterback”, outside linebacker Deion Jones said.

Florida missed more than 30 tackles against Tennessee but has been much better wrapping up ball carriers the past two games.

Perry Orth, starting for injured Lorenzo Nunez (shoulder), passed for 200 yards and two TDs for South Carolina (2-4, 0-4). Orth started things off with a 15-yard strike to Matrick Belton, then hit Cooper on a slant and let the playmaker take it 43 yards for the score. His longest pass went for 62 yards in the Tigers’ victory. We just gave up a lot of big plays. “He made a few good passes in the second half”. “Being disciplined with our eyes”. We had a normal week of practice.

LSU fans welcomed the Gamecocks with open arms. The Gamecocks got a spark on a 96-yard kickoff return by freshman Rashad Fenton on the first touch of his college career, but it was mostly missed tackles by their defense and sloppy execution offensively.

All of this is a situation LSU finds relatable.

The relocated game was like none seen before at LSU; the Gamecocks were technically the home team in Death Valley. “The game plan hadn’t been introduced to us, so we really hadn’t looked into that”.

After those comments were made, the NCAA sent out a tweet, making an exception saying that Fournette can indeed auction his jersey with the proceeds going towards South Carolina relief efforts.

But Fournette wanted to do something. I just get frustrated watching our guys.
