Clinton’s e-mail raise more security concerns
The FBI’s probe into the security of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s email has expanded to include a second private technology company, which said Tuesday it plans to provide the law enforcement agency with data it preserved from Clinton’s account.
The disclosures, in a letter Monday from Wisconsin Sen. Johnson is the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee. Johnson’s letter included exchanges between Platte River and Datto regarding confusion of where backed-up data from Clinton’s server was stored.
If that is the case, investigators could now be able to determine whether the deleted emails were purely personal in nature, as Clinton has maintained.
Clinton will testify in front of the House Benghazi committee October 22 about using a private email address, routed through a personal server, to conduct all of her business. The four servers, which were located at the State Department’s headquarters building, were seized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation several weeks ago.
It’s not clear whether the cyberattacks were run-of-the-mill attempts to crack servers that pester computer users worldwide or targeted espionage efforts.
That implies that Datto’s servers had backups of Clinton’s emails dating back to June 2013.
“These emails are now in our possession and will be subject to Freedom of Information Act requests”, State Department spokesman John Kirby said. Many suspect it couldn’t have had a software sophisticated enough to detect or protect against government backed cyber-attacks. “Those attacks are incredibly sophisticated, and very hard to detect and contain”.
Johnson highlighted the vulnerability of Clinton’s private email server, which was reportedly without protection for three months before the software was installed.
A spokesman for the Clinton campaign did not respond to an email request for comment.

The FBI is investigating whether national security was compromised by Clinton’s email arrangement. At this point, all they’re trying to do is be a few small company in Colorado which just happened to be contacted by Hillary Clinton to store her emails.
The letter by Johnson quotes emails sent to and from Platte River Networks employees, indicating a discussion about how the duration of data backups could be reduced, allegedly at the approval of the Clinton family company – Clinton Executive Service Corp.
Citizens United, a film production group, has been suing the State Department to turn over official emails between Cheryl Mills, Clinton’s chief of staff, and individuals associated with the Clinton Foundation.
Clinton’s system utilized threat monitoring software called SECNAP. Corporate documents show SECNAP has been in existence since at least 2002, selling computer spam filter and firewall products.
