Four-year-old girl raped in Delhi, four persons detained
A 4 year old girl has been raped and abandoned near a rail line in Delhi by unknown persons.
A four-year-old girl is fighting for life at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi after being brutally raped and left for dead – a horror that all too routinely brings back memories of the 2012 Delhi gang rape-murder. “After searching for an hour, the victim’s grandfather found her lying under the bushes by the road”, said the cops, adding, “The girl was crying and bleeding from her private parts”.
Though police refused to give any detail, the source said the accused Rahul alias Lala was a resident of Rampura colony in Keshav Puram area here and known to the brutalised child and her family. “But such cases leave a trauma in the mind and we would engage medical professionals to deal with it once she gets better”, said Safdarjung Medical Superintendent A.K. Rai.
She was later referred to Safdarjung Hospital. “She had injury on her private parts and doctors operated on her last night”, he said. The girl was recovered with nail marks all over her body from near the slum cluster where she lived.
Vijay Singh, a senior police officer investigating the case, said the girl was raped and beaten with stones on Thursday.
A case under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Acts has been registered and a manhunt has been launched to arrest the accused, who is yet to be identified, he said. Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal on Saturday visited the hospital and met the family of the victim.
The woman went lacking from her home on the night of October 9. Horrific. Her parents are extremely poor. “When will this heinous crime stop in Delhi (sic)”.
“In 2014, only nine accused were convicted in Delhi in crime against women. Can you imagine! Tabhi to Delhi mei kisi ko darr nahi hai (That’s why no one is scared in Delhi)”, she tweeted.
