Suburban New York man faces murder charge in 17-month-old’s death
Pardo is accused of killing Mason Robinson, of New Cassel, police said.
A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of 26-year-old Lord Pardo.
Pardo faces one count of second-degree murder.
Lord Pardo was ordered held on $20 million bond or $10 million cash at his arraignment Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead. “He is truly a monster”, acting Nassau County Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter said.
Moza said his client had a good relationship with the child’s mother. “It’s clear the defendant has no soul”, the prosecutor said during a news conference Tuesday. “This baby was severely beaten and those injuries caused his death”.
Robinson died just before 3 p.m. on Sunday at North Shore LIJ Syosset Hospital, officials said. Authorities did not elaborate on how the injuries were inflicted, other than to say the toddler had suffered a severe beating.
“This was in fact no calamity that this kind of kid was in fact brutally injured, and any damages triggered his death”, Nassau County Acting District Attorney Madeline Singas explained captioners, as well as WCBS 880’s Sophia Hall. The mother asked Pardo to drive the child to her, near her workplace.
The attorney offered that the injuries could’ve been caused by “negligence supervision”, but his client never meant to physically assault the child.
