Manchester United defender Paddy McNair being assessed after abdominal injury
Paddy McNair is due to leave hospital in Finland today, but faces two more weeks on the sidelines after suffering liver damage.
On Sunday, McNair featured again for his nation in their 1-1 draw away to Finland – a result which ensured Northern Ireland finished top of their qualifying group.
Manchester United defender Paddy McNair is being kept in Helsinki overnight for assessment on an abdominal injury sustained on Northern Ireland duty.
Irish team doctor David White has remained with McNair during his hospital stay, and he is communicating with United’s medical team to discuss a prognosis, per Jones and Wheeler. It is believed he might be allowed to return home on Wednesday to rest and recuperate.
He will fly back to Manchester where he will be assessed by United’s medical chiefs, who opted not to fly to Finland to oversee the player’s treatment.
Louis van Gaal is expected to give an update on McNair’s condition when he addresses the media on Friday prior to United’s Premier League clash with Everton at Goodison Park the following day.
