Aide to Michigan congressman arrested in Baltimore
According to a police report, Tim Foster assaulted a black man described as his boyfriend with a small red and black shovel, leaving the man so badly injured that he was hospitalized with scrapes and bruises across his neck and torso, Roll Call reported Tuesday.
Hannah Hess of Roll Call reports that the incident took place on October. 8 around 2:30 a.m.in a Baltimore home.
A staffer for Rep. Sander Levin (D-Mich.) was arrested last week in Baltimore after allegedly beating his lover with a shovel, according to a copy of the police report.
“When you reach the fifth step, I am going to stab you”, he allegedly told him.
Foster’s wife purportedly got in the way, and the knife fell to the ground.
Police later responded to Union Memorial Hospital and spoke the the man identified as his boyfriend.
Foster then put the other man in a chokehold and told him, “I want to kill you, die dirty faggy”, according to police.
The publication said Foster struck his 39-year-old boyfriend with a small shovel at a Baltimore home after an altercation began after midnight.
Foster was arrested hours later, facing assault and risky weapons charges, RollCall reported.
Court records reviewed by The Detroit News show Foster was held until Friday and released pending a trial set for November. 10.
Foster, who is Levin’s online communication manager, has reportedly worked for the Michigan lawmaker for seven years.
The man was able to drive himself to the hospital.
“Timothy Foster is on unpaid leave from our office as of Friday, and otherwise we have no comment on what is a private legal matter”, said Hilarie Chambers, Levin’s longtime chief of staff.
