Dublin Airport passenger numbers up 14% to 2.3 million
The passenger numbers using the airport’s seven United Kingdom services increased by ten percent whilst numbers using continental European services to the likes of Alicante, Malaga, Faro, Tenerife and Lanzarote increased by 12 percent contributing to a record month for the airport.
The number of passengers passing through Vienna Airport this September has increased by 4.3 percent from the prior-year month, leading to a total of 2,279,800 customers.
Local passenger volume was also up 5.7% in the same period. In September 2015 total air cargo rose 0.3% from the previous year.
The success was linked to a 10.7 per cent growth in domestic passengers due to more people travelling to London City with BA Cityflyer and Flybe and to Stansted with Ryanair.
Dublin Airport said that more than 2.5 million extra passengers have travelled through there so far this year. In September 2015, the number of customers traveling to Western Europe rose by 4.4 percent, whilst the passenger volume to Eastern Europe increased by 2.4 percent.
“To reach this milestone having begun the year at just below 20 million passengers is a fantastic achievement and testament to the strength of our catchment area as well as the continuing popularity of the airport’s extensive route network that serves 170 destinations – and more scheduled European destinations than any other United Kingdom airport”.
The strategic investments of Flughafen Wien AG have aided this development. The number of passengers handled by Kosice Airport rose 9.8% in the period January to September 2015 to a total of 328,434 passengers.
