Streetview on iOS and Android is the best reason to buy Cardboard
The coolest thing, though, particularly if you have had enough of rollercoasters and dinosaurs, is the introduction of Street View touring.
Google wants you to explore the world in virtual reality – and now you can, via the new Cardboard button that’s been added to its Street View apps for Android and iOS. It added that the Cardboard developer documents are now also available in 10 languages and that the app until now has seen over 15 million installs from Google Play.
The long-term analysis is partly based on data collected through a Device Analyzer app, available from the Google Play Store, developed by the computer scientists, and used by 20,000 volunteers worldwide.
The classroom kit includes a Cardboard headset and accompanying phone to use with it, while the teacher gets a tablet for directing the adventure.
According to the same report, the success was mainly attributed to the fact that this is the avenue where users could actually experience virtual reality for the first time. This particular update will see a major overhaul of the sensor fusion algorithms that integrate the signals from the gyroscope and accelerometer, and as these improvements will substantially decrease drift, especially on phones with lower-quality sensors.

But car-captured street scenes aren’t the only views to be found in VR on Street View. The app allows users to virtually travel the world, with images from Google and other contributors.
Google is known for creating hidden surprises in most of its offerings and for Android users each version of the platform has something special.
