Carey Mulligan talks baby daughter at ‘Suffragette’ premiere
Take 30-year-old Carey Mulligan, who glided onto the red carpet in London last week in a playful and purple Chanel Haute Couture frock alongside her Suffragette co-star Meryl Streep.
A few days after confirming the gender of her baby, Carey Mulligan has revealed her daughter’s name.
“Like anyone, you try and split your time evenly”. And I keep thinking I wish I could.
“But I also wouldn’t want the negative narrative to sort of cloud the fact that this film is empowering women and empowering people”, she added. The more similar you look job to job, the more they relate to you from your previous roles.
The news comes just months after Carey confirmed she was ready to start a family with the Mumford and Sons rocker, telling The Mirror: “Yeah, definitely”. The news became slightly public when Mulligan’s friend Sienna Miller gave a statement to Vogue that she is actually looking forward to her friend’s personal life. Marcus can headline Glastonbury and Carey can be nominated for however many Oscars, and then they come back to their farm, and they’re in big woolly jumpers and amusing hats, raising piglets.
Suffragette (12A) follows the story of the fight by women to be granted the right to vote in the early 20th century. At the start of Suffragette, Maud isn’t oppressed by her husband, Sonny (Ben Whishaw), but by the brutish taskmaster, Taylor (Geoff Bell), who runs the laundry where they work. In the film, directed by Sarah Gavron from a script by Abi Morgan, Mulligan plays Maud Watts alongside Meryl Streep’s Emmeline Pankhurst and Helena Bonham Carter’s Edith Ellyn.
