Bill Belichick hasn’t been to the grocery store in a couple years
To the surprise of absolutely no one, Bill Belichick wasn’t biting on any talk of revenge against the Colts Sunday night as he held his weekly Wednesday press conference at Gillette Stadium.
While this would be better off without context, it’s important to note that Belichick was asked if people were coming up to him at the grocery store and asking him to kick Indianapolis’ butt.
That one soundbite has now circulated the Internet like wildfire. Belichick played his illness, like everything else, close to the vest. The other came when Belichick was asked about how friends and neighbors have conveyed their excitement about the Patriots playing in Indianapolis this weekend.
But then, stunningly, Bill Belichick’s story comes crumbling apart, like most stories told by Bill Belichick or any member of the Patriots. “That’s what we do”, Belichick said. “We’re getting ready to play a game on Sunday”.
Mike Wells of ESPN.com provided his thoughts about how both teams are downplaying this rematch. But beyond that, they’ve said very little about Deflategate. Which in turn makes them a hard team to prepare for.
