Two civilians injured in encounter between militants
A fierce encounter has ensued between militants and security forces at Awantipora in Kashmir district of Pulwama this evening.
As the word about the gunfight spread, the villagers came out and starting pelting stones on the forces who in turn resorted to aerial and pellet firing to disperse them, witnesses said.
The exchange of fire was is going on, the officer said, adding further details were awaited. Sources said that two militants are believed to be holed up in the area.
An encounter had raked yesterday between militants and forces in the village after army and SOG had started search operation in the area.
Hurriyat (M) spokesman said on the directions of the Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a delegation of the Hurriyat (M) comprising of senior Hurriyat leaders, Javed Ahmad Mir and Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi visited SMHS Hospital in Srinagar to see the injured of Dogripora, Awantipora incident now under treatment there.
Agitated protesters clashed with security forces near the Jamia mosque and three were injured in firing by security forces.
