Rajon Rondo may or may not be serious about latest coach feud
It’s also possible the two strong-minded men have already started butting heads.
The Sacramento Kings need Rajon Rondo and head coach George Karl to get along, but that hasn’t been happening at all so far.
Combine them with solid depth players such as Kosta Koufos, Omri Casspi and rookie Willie Cauley-Stein – who at least will be able to provide a few defense from the get-go – and there’s little doubt the Kings have talent. “We got into a couple of arguments in the last couple of days”. “Hopefully, we continue to talk, and it will get better”. Especially as Rondo could become an instrumental player if he connects well with All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins to give the Kings’ offense greater passing flare and creativity.
After being traded from the Boston Celtics to the Dallas Mavericks last season, Rondo clashed with Mavericks coach, Rick Carlisle, which was a big factor in how the team finished the season. We aren’t midway through October and Rondo is openly discussing his arguments with his new coach.
A word of advice: Never invite Rajon Rondo to your weekly poker game. He’s shooting 52 percent from the floor while averaging 6.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 22 minutes per game. If the Kings are playing defense for the first time in years, Karl may have this team heading toward the playoffs as well.
The Kings have a lot of talent on their roster but as Karl said earlier this offseason they have a “combustible mix of players”.
Kings fans are going to want to hope that Rondo means that.
This could just be part of the process as Karl and Rondo try to work out their relationship but it also has a chance to derail Sacramento’s season before it even starts.
