Injured Steven Finn rules out of Pakistan series
Finn will hope to return for the tour of South Africa in December.
England Test squad: Alastair Cook (capt), Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Ian Bell, Stuart Broad, Jos Buttler (wk), Alex Hales, Samit Patel, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, James Taylor, Mark Wood, Chris Jordan.
An European Central Bank statement confirmed the news yesterday morning.
English fast bowler Steven Finn has been ruled out of ongoing series against Pakistan in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
It is a cruel blow for Finn who made a triumphant return to the Test side during the Ashes, 18 months after his career was left in doubt when he was deemed unselectable in Australia and sent home.
The remaining two Tests will be played in Dubai (October 22-26) and Sharjah (November 1-5) followed by four one-day internationals and three Twenty20s.
Chris Jordan will step in for the rest of the tour of the UAE.
Jordan has taken 21 wickets at an average of 35.80 in his eight Test appearances to date, but the Sussex player missed a large proportion of the county season due to a side injury.
Jordan, who was already part of the T20 squad, has featured in eight Test matches for England, the last of which was against the West Indies in April. “There’s nobody better in the world at catching and it is a shock if he puts one down in training”, Robinson said. “He found more and more rhythm with every game after he came back from injury and I think he’s got an extra yard of pace now which could be an asset”.
