Small plane crashes at Cleveland Hopkins airport
CLEVELAND- A private single engine plane has crashed at Cleveland Hopkins global Airport.
Authorities say the plane went down shortly after takeoff around 4 p.m. The pilot may have been attempting to return for a landing when it crashed. Little remained of the aircraft following the wreck.
Hammond Fire Chief John Thomas said the two men were the only people aboard the plane. Investigators said no one else was injured, including people on the ground.
Police at the scene said it does not look like there were any survivors, Fox 8 WVUE reported.
The FAA is handling the investigation into the crash.
Northshore reporter Heath Allen said various first responders have been sent to the area.
At the scene, multiple fire department crews continue to work to scene.
