Garner, Affleck are getting divorced

(CBS NEWS)- Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are ending their marriage after a decade.

Since then, his career seemed to soar while hers seemed to subside, as she focused on raising their children.

The couple married June 29, 2005, in a private ceremony in the Turks and Caicos, months after they famously made their first public appearance together as a couple during the 2004 World Series.

Insiders revealed that although they were great parents, Affleck and Garner were not getting along well and they were actually having marriage counseling for two years.

Yet apparently, both have decided that the best course of action for the good of everybody, specially their family, was to split. “It is important for them to keep this nice and efficient for the sake of their family”. “Thank you for understanding”, the statement read, quoted Vanity Fair. They went on to give birth to three children named Violet Anne, Sera Rose Elizabeth, and Sam.

“Jen wanted to bring the kids to visit him [on set] that summer, and he said no”, a source told the magazine in May. Garner characterized their marriage as “mindful” in a 2014 interview with InStyle, noting that the courtship phase was over.

“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the hard decision to divorce”, it read. Last week, Radar Online reported that moving trucks were spotted in front of the couple’s home.

Because that’s how Garner and Affleck always acted – real. “You have just to hang in there while you figure it out – and have a lot of patience for each other”, Garner said.

Strangely, after Affleck got an Oscar in 2013, with an award for “Argo“, he defended his acceptance speech, calling his marriage “work”. “He loved her, he loves her and he will always be grateful for the children they have together, but she ended up being more of a mom than a wife and Ben didn’t want to live that life anymore”, the source said.
