Arrest made in death of woman found dangling from fence
A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murdering the woman found dead this morning. He is being held in the Ross County Jail on one count of murder. He’s scheduled to make his initial court appearance Wednesday.
Main St., appeared in court via video and said nothing as a law director asked for a high bond and said Cochenour admitted to a physical altercation in the area where the woman’s body was found Tuesday.
The female’s name was not released because positive identification had not been made, police said during a press conference Tuesday.
Her body was found in the same city where police have been investigating a string of suspicious deaths and disappearances of local women. Police have linked those women because they ran in the same circle and were involved in both heroin abuse and prostitution.
The woman’s body was seen by someone at about 8:30 a.m. but initially was dismissed as a dummy that someone put on the fence as a Halloween prank. A message was left Wednesday at the public defender’s office in Chillicothe.
Police said this investigation is still ongoing and further details will be released as they become available.
