The Baltimore Police Department is investigating an incident in which an officer allegedly spit on a suspect being arrested. The officer is on administrative duty.
The incident occurred at night, so the arrest isn’t clearly visible in the footage but you can see a struggle and in the video you can hear people at the scene yelling that the officer spit on the suspect.
“The video appears to depict the police sergeant spitting on the arrestee”, Davis says in a statement.
“You´re going to be tased”.
Activists opposed to the permanent appointment of Baltimore’s interim police commissioner have occupied City Hall.
The man arrested was charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
“That is outrageously unacceptable and it directly contradicts the necessary community relationships we are striving to rehabilitate”.
A spokesman for the protesters has said they won’t leave until Davis and the mayor agree to a list of demands.
