Wild bear roams Russian shopping mall before being shot dead
The Podsolnukh shopping centre was closed and empty of customers by the time the bear made his shock entry at around 10.30pm.
A bear was shot and killed by police marksmen near the center of Russia’s far eastern city of Khabarovsk late Tuesday night after it rampaged through a shopping mall, according to local police.
A wild bear that was on the loose in a Russian shopping mall understandably terrified locals, though one managed to catch its antics on camera.
Police and security men sought to chase the bear out of the mall, leading it to become spooked and violent.
But the killing of the bear sparked outrage from Russian animal rights campaigners.
“The body of the bear we immediately passed to hunting inspectors”.
The animal grew disoriented and angry after receiving wounds from broken glass under its paws, and was put down by police. Of course, in this case the bear could break displays and upset the shop owners.
The Investigative Committee, Russia’s main state investigative agency, has launched a probe into the legitimacy of police action.
